Christmas Cards & Inspiration

I had to get going on making Christmas Cards, but I was having difficulty deciding on a design.
I went to the trusty Internet and Pinterest for inspiration. I found a video from a gal who said she could make 80 cards from the November Paper Pumpkin!

Well, I almost couldn't believe it! I watched it and it was inspiring! It really got the creative juices flowing. I didn't do quite as well as her, but I did make 20 cards, and felt rather thrifty for using so many of the supplies that came in the November Paper Pumpkin kit.

Here are 2 of the cards. The left card I cut one of the flaps of the blue card off. I added a quarter sheet of white card stock to the inside. For the card on the right, I added the cut off section to a half sheet of white card stock (folded in half). I decorated them with the extra blue and silver snowflakes. Wah-lah - 2 cards out of one. I made 6 of each design.

Christmas Card 2014

This card uses the negative space of the snowflake, so I ended up with a type of mirror image. This, I must admit is one of my favorites. I added the white sections to a half sheet of Lost Lagoon paper.

This card has nothing to do with the paper pumpkin, but I saw examples using the Festival of Trees stamp set and the tree punch. I basically used 2 examples to make this one card. I like this one too.

Inspiration comes from many places. My favorites are Pinterest and YouTube.
How are your Christmas cards coming? I'm getting mine mailed tomorrow. Which one will you get?

Merry Christmas!

November Paper Pumpkin

Hi Everyone,

I was so excited to get my November Paper Pumpkin. It came with enough stuff in the kit to make 8 Christmas cards and 12 to 24 tags, depending on how you decided to do them.

Check out the Paper Pumpkin page to see how the kit is 'supposed' to be put together.

I decided to change it up a bit and came up with some different ideas for tags and cards.

theresastampinfun.blogspot.com

This card uses only supplies from the kit except for the white &  Lost Lagoon card stock.  The little silver dots in the center of the snowflakes are the centers of the silver circles from the tags.

I decided to do separate tags and then I'll get 24 rather than 12. They are similar to the original design, but with enough of a twist so I can call them my own.

I get so excited each month to see what goodies are in the little orange box.
If any of you would like to find out more about the paper pumpkin, just click the link on the side or email me with any questions.

Happy Stamping!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving. I'm getting ready for the Thanksgiving festivities and so I made a few cards for some family & friends. I had to wait a bit to post them so they could be delivered.

The first one is using the retired stamp set from Stampin' Up! named Autumn Days. The sentiment is from the October Paper Pumpkin.

The second card uses the SU die called Autumn Accents. The background is textured using the woodgrain embossing folder. The sentiment is from Gratitude for Days stamp set.

Check out the Paper Pumpkin page. I added some new examples from this month's paper pumpkin.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Be blessed.

Nov 13 Paper Pumpkin Alternates

Greetings! No, you are not reading this wrong. I was working on my November 2013 Paper Pumpkin kit. We had used this kit in my last class and followed the directions, but sometimes it's kind of fun to strike out on you own.

My thought was to have a Christmas tree and use the stars as garland. I used the "Lovely as a Tree" stamp set from SU, but it looks like I could have used a bigger tree stamp!

My poor little Christmas tree is almost buried under star garland. Oh well, it gave me a chuckle! It reminds me of my Christmas tree.

Playing Around

On Saturday, I went to a garage sale and bought some vellum paper with snowflakes on. I had to try it out, so I went over to Splitcoaststampers and selected one of the sketch challenges, #510.

Here is the sketch:

Putting the card together with this sketch was going very well and I was happy with the way it looked, UNTIL:

I had a boo boo. :-(

Every stamper will tell you that accidents happen. You cut where you didn't mean to, you glue or stamp something in the wrong spot, or in this case, the card hit the Mossy Meadow Green ink pad.

It's a creative opportunity, they say! It doesn't make you feel any less disgusted. I really liked the way that card turned out, and then I wrecked it!

Well, I had to figure out a way to fix it. So, I decided to change it completely. Since the "Merry Christmas" was in the Mossy Meadow Green, decided to use that color as my background. Here is how it turned out. Not too bad for a re-work. :-)

Paper Pumpkin Examples

Well, I sure have been having fun with the paper pumpkins that have come to my home. The very first one I received was in September for the October holiday. (gives me plenty of time to get going on Halloween!) Here is a card I created with a few of the extra items from the kit.

Goals

Hi Folks,

I find it's so much easier to be creative when you have a goal in mind. For instance, I have a Paper Pumpkin event coming up, so I'm excited about it and I'm getting prepared for it. Now, my mind is on Pumpkins of all types: decorations, food, and of course Cards!

Here's my September Paper Pumpkin. We have little Halloween gift bags.

What occasion do you have to prepare for? It's a great reason to make a card.

World Card Making Day

Yesterday we celebrated World Card Making Day.
It's a day where people all around the world gather together and make cards to celebrate the up coming holidays. What a good reason to gather with friends and have a party!

Well, I had a card making class. Here is one of the cards we made.

Theresa's Stampin Fun

This card is made with the stamp set named 'Wetlands'. I love this set. It has images and sentiments to make all kind types of cards. It's especially nice for male cards. (and we all know how hard they are!)
Here is another card made with the same set. The sentiment is from a different stamp set.

I have a Paper Pumpkin promotion coming up. It's a once a  month creative escape. Take a look. More details to come.

Baby Cards

I'm posting this card in honor of the birth of my 4th granddaughter. Now I have 5 grandchildren. I'm so blessed!

This card's inspiration came from a Splitcoast Stamper's Sketch challenge #477.I didn't use this card for the new baby. It went into my stash for the next baby shower that comes up.

theresastampinfun.blogspot.com

The stamp set is from Stampin' Up! and is named Baby, We've Grown. It has so many cute, adorable images and nice sentiments.

What inspires you? Some of the things that inspire me are occasions, (I need a birthday or baby card!), a challenge, or a cute stamp set.

Stamp sets or any supplies can be purchased by following the link for my stamping store above. You'll have to search by my name to get me as your demonstrator.

Creative Juices and how they work for me

Well, sometimes they just don't work, but this week was a good week. I've had some time off from work and so I had extra time to work on cards.

I've been excited about Fall, Thanksgiving, and WORLD CARD MAKING DAY!!
I'm having a get together at my house on that day so that is getting my creative juices flowing too.

The inspiration for the cards I make are from sketches, (Freshly Made Sketches - Thank you), pinterest, and sometimes I actually think up something in my own head.

This card is sort of like some others I've made. It follows a basic layout, but I wanted to use fall colors and falling leaves. I thought of the colors of leaves and how they turn from green to yellow to brown. It needed a little something besides the color, leaves and sentiment, so I added the candy dots.

The card recipe is:
Paper: Whisper White, Old Olive
Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Work of Art, and Gratitude for Days
Ink: Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Baked Brown Sugar, and Chocolate Chip
Extras: Candy dots - Old Olive & Daffodil Delight

TFL - Thanks for looking.

CASE of a Pinned Card

Hi Everyone,

I CASED this card. The original I pinned in pinterest, and since that time, that card has been re-pinned over 100 times. Copying a card you see on the web is a great way to help you become creative. I can call this card my own because I made mine in a Black & White version, and I used different paper and stamps. I just used the one below as a guide.
Here is my version:

And here is the original card that I pinned.

Hello Again!

Hi Folks,

Boy, I didn't realize it was so long since my last post. I've been busy getting my Stampin' Up! business up and running. I'm going to be having a card making class on Saturday, January 18th. Here is a preview of a few cards that we'll be making.

The left card is a blatant copy of a card from Sandy Mathis (she has great cards), the right card is a CASE card from www.splitcoastStampers.com, which was a case card and the original design was from Heather Telford's bits & pieces blog. The middle card's inspiration came from the stamp set itself. It's a new stamp set from Stampin' Up! called "Life in the forest". It's super cute with many little animals along with the trees and mushrooms.  Thanks for Looking!
